of Davin, WV
Ralph Edward Copley, Sr., 71, of Davin, departed this life on Friday, June 17, 2022, at St. Mary’s Medical Center at Huntington, after a long illness.
He was born on August 10, 1950, at Davin, the son of the late Floyd Cecil and Irene Marie (Patrick) Copley.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Drema Sue (Ellison) Copley; one grandson, Robert Edward McCloud; two sisters, Anna Lou Clay and Connie Sammons; two brothers, Danny Ray Copley and Floyd Eugene Copley; and a very special uncle and aunt, Freeman and Ruth Lusk.
Ralph was a coal miner whose career spanned over 20 years before he became disabled. He was a member of the UMWA District 17. Devoted to his family, Ralph loved spending time with them, working with his hands doing wood work, and operating his Kubota tractor. As his health declined he enjoyed music, talking on the phone, and buying lottery tickets.
Those left to cherish his memory are one daughter, Belinda Sue (Greg) McCloud of Davin; two sons, Ralph Copley Jr. and his companion Doris Jacobs of Robinette and Danny Ray (Christine Spaulding) Copley of Scott Depot; four grandchildren, Tara (Kyle) Brown of Whitman, Adam (Lindsey) Copley of Combs Addition, Katey (Brandon) Governale of Hurricane, and Ashlee (Ryan) Stacy of Man; great-grandchildren, Jayden, Jace, and Trent Brown, all of Whitman, Carleigh Governale of Hurricane and Brooks Governale due to arrive June 27, 2022; one brother, Robert Lane (Carol) Copley of Cyclone; one sister, Wilda (Terry) Hoekstra of NY; special friends, Harrison Spaulding, Charles Belcher, Timmy Spence, and Dean Plumley; many nieces and nephews along with a host of other relatives and friends.
