Obituary of Dormia Lee Dye
Please share a memory of Dormia to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Dormia Lee “Shorty” Dye, 86, of Verner, went to her heavenly home on Thursday, May 5, 2022, leaving from her earthly home.
She was born on July 18, 1935, at Man, the daughter of the late Landrum and Lois Mae (Damron) Burgett.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by two sons, Lanny Scott Dye and Todd Edward Dye; one sister, Doris Ann Adkins; two brothers, Cecil Leonard Burgess and Charles Thomas “Tommy” Burgett; and her late husband, Franklin Dye.
Shorty was formerly employed as a cook with Arlie Gamble’s Tape Hut and later at the Colonial Room. She attended Tamcliff Tabernacle and later became a member of the Verner Community Church. For the last 15 years Shorty has been unable to go to church due to sickness yet she has remained faithful to the Lord. Sewing has been a life long passion for Shorty; making clothing, blankets, aprons, scrubs, and many other items through the years. During her illnesses she continued sewing when she was able, working word search puzzles, spending time with her cat Morris, and watching TV while eating raisin cakes and ice cream. Shorty loved fiercely and as long as you were good to her she was good to you.
Those left to cherish her memory are one child who stood by her until the end, Michael “Mike” Dye of Man; one sister, Eldonna (Harold) Phillips of Omar; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews along with a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Thursday at Verner Community Church at Verner.
