Martha Mae Toler
of Combs Addition, WV
Martha Mae Toler, 89, of Combs Addition, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, on Tuesday, March 22, 2022, leaving from her earthly home, after a long illness.
She was born on September 8, 1932, at Lundale, the daughter of the late Hassel Benjamin and Gladys Thelma (Bailey) Johnson.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Maxwell “Max” Toler; one son, Edward Maxwell “Eddie” Toler, II; one brother, John Ireland Johnson, and one brother-in-law, Bernie L. Toler.
Martha was a 1951 graduate of Man High School. After graduation, she attended Marshall College where she graduated with Bachelors’ Degree and then a Master’s plus 45 Degree in Education. Martha was a member of the American Federation of Teachers. She loved teaching and worked as a teacher for over 50 years in the Logan County and Manassas, VA areas.
She was a longtime member of the Claypool United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir and was a member of the Ladies Aide for many years.
Martha was devoted to her family especially her grandsons.
Those left to cherish her memory are two grandsons, Joshua Edward Toler and Timothy Charles Toler, both of Combs Addition; two sisters, Elizabeth “Betty” Toler of Davin and Elizabeth “Libby” Mays and her husband John B. Mays of Chapmanville; three nieces, Russetta Wright and her husband George “Poon” of Moneta, VA, Stephane Rockey and her fiancé Chad Goodin of Mooresville, NC, and Stacia Ball of Moneta, VA; one nephew, Ben Toler and his wife Dorothy of Davin; and her canine fur baby Yetzi; along with a host of other relatives, church family, and friends.
In honor of Martha’s wishes her remains have been cremated and there will be a family service at a later date.
