Willa Sue Carter Blankenship
of Kistler, WV
Willa Sue Carter Blankenship, 85, of Kistler, made her journey to Heaven to join her husband on Thursday, February 17, 2022, leaving from the home of her daughter Gail, after a long illness.
She was born on May 6, 1936, at Lundale, the daughter of the late William Henry and Gladys Marie (Cook) Carter.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Britton “Junior” Blankenship; two brothers, Benny Carter and Billy Carter; one sister, Wanda Adkins; and three sons-in-law, Bill Evans, Danny Fernandez, and Bob McCoy.
Sue loved road trips, yard sales, flea markets, and working puzzles. She enjoyed holiday dinners and spending time with her family.
Those left to cherish her memory are five daughters, Debbie Evans of Kistler, Sherrie Cox and her husband Randy of Richlands, NC, Pam Fernandez of Ethel, Gail Grimmett and her husband Buddy of Greenville with whom she made her home, and Patty Sewell of Kistler; 15 grandchildren, Owen (Rosemary) Evans, Steven (Kim) Evans, Josh (Nicole) Evans, Timmy (Sandy) Evans, Jeremy (Chili) Evans, Missy Moul who helped take care of her grandmother, Brandon Cox, Justin (Christy) Cox, Jennifer (Mandi) Jones, Christine (Brett) Jacquot, Rev. Jonathan (Kelli) Grimmett, Mandi (Jeremy) Bowen who helped take care of her grandmother, Anissa (Eddie) Thompson, Allen (Brandi) Sewell, and Kevin Sewell; 28 Great-grandchildren, Valerie, Jonathan, Josh, Jr., Summer, and Billy Evans, Jeremiah and Britton Stevens, Matthew Evans, Autumn Moul, Austin Booth, Tyler Cline, Jayare and companion Summer Porter, Sophia Nicholas, Angela, Shannia, and Jaytee Cox, Kara, Brett, and Kimberly Jacquot, Kori Sauber, Abi Lowe, Carter Bowen, Kaylie Meade, Kevin and Kelley Sewell, and Chrissy Ellis; two great-great-grandchildren, Gavin Foxx and Conner Allen; two adopted by love granddaughters, Amanda Harvey and Whitney Wright; along with a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will begin at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, February 20, 2022, at the Krantz-McNeely Funeral Home at Man with Rev. Jonathan Grimmett officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery at Pecks Mill.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to services.
Pall Bearers will be Sue’s grandsons.
