Joyce Cecile Cummings-Miller
of Mallory, WV
Joyce Cecile Cummings-Miller, 82, of Mallory, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 23, 2015, from her home, after a long illness.
She was born June 8, 1932, at Washington, DC, the daughter of the late Curtis and Flossie Annas Lovejoy and Palmer Black.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ray H. Cummings; her second husband, Sebert D. Miller.
Joyce was a retired school teacher formerly employed with the Logan County Board of Education. Through out her teaching career she taught at Earling, Christian, Buffalo, and Mallory Grade Schools. When she was able, Joyce was an active member of the National Education Association and the Logan County Republican Women. She was a Christian of the Baptist faith.
Those left to cherish her memory are one daughter, Joyce Ann Cummings of Mallory; one granddaughter, Shannon (Jeremy) Malloy of Mallory; one grandson, David (Regina) Hopkins, II of Huntington; two great-grandsons, Jaykob and Kayden Hopkins, both of Huntington; two brothers, Carson (Wanda) Lovejoy of Morganton, NC and Jason Black of Nashville, TN; and four sisters, Iva Lee (Tommy) Fields of Granite Falls, NC, Virginia Buckner, Regilene (Jim) Broyhill, and Daphne (Tommy) Madron, all of Lenoir, NC; along with a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 28, 2015, at the Krantz-McNeely Funeral Home at Man with Rev. Eddie Isom and Rev. Donald Wells officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery at Pecks Mill.
Visitation will be held 6-9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home and one hour prior to services.
Pall bearers will be family and friends.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Krantz-McNeely Funeral Home at Man.
