Mary Mae Duncan
of Combs Addition, WV
Mary Mae Duncan, 93, of Combs Addition, was received into her heavenly home after 69 years of serving her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, January 19, 2022. She was a homemaker and wife of George Duncan, the love of her life. Mary served the Kistler Freewill Baptist Church in many areas including Sunday School teacher, ladies aide, and being an exemplary Deacon’s wife. She lived her life trying to show others the love that Jesus placed in her heart.
Mary was born on February 1, 1928, the daughter of the late Wetzel and Bertha (Kilgore) Esque. Those preceding her in death are: Kent Steele a nephew whom she raised as a son, two brothers, Wetzel Esque Jr. and Paul Ray Esque, and three sisters Helen, Maria, and Mildred Esque.
She is survived by her husband of 71 years, George Duncan; one sister, Sue (Roger) Adkins of Cleveland, OH; one niece who she raised as a daughter, Sabrina Steele Desilva; along with many nieces, nephews, friends, and church family.
Mary was passionate about many things but never wanted to miss a revival or church service. She was known throughout Combs Addition, Mineral City, and Gilman Bottom for walking in the sun, snow, sleet, or rain with a smile on her face and waving or speaking to everyone. Mary let everyone know that “ALL good things come from above”.
Visitation will be held from 6-9 p.m. Saturday, January 22, 2022, at the Kistler Freewill Baptist Church at Kistler and one hour prior to services at the church also.
Funeral services will begin at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, January 23, 2022, at the Kistler Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. Timothy Isom officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens at Godby.
