Dixie Faye Daniels Frazier
Of Amherstdale, WV
Dixie Faye Daniels Frazier, 86, of Amherstdale, went to her Heavenly home on December 31, 2020 from Pikeville Medical Center after a short illness.
She was born on October 26, 1934, in Kentucky, a daughter of the late Jay and Flossie Daniels.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother Donald Jack Daniels, her younger brother Michael David Daniels, her sister Gertrude Rice and a her first born grandson Joseph “Jody” Holly whom she loved dearly as she did all her family.
Dixie attended Man High School and went on to finish her degree and became a LPN. She worked at Man Hospital and Community Health Foundation for many years. Dixie was a member of Becco United Baptist Church for over 60 years. She started singing gospel music when she was 11 years old and so little that they had to stand her on a milk crate so you could see her. She sang with Dixie and the Cavaliers all her church years until the last few when she and her husband sang as The Fraziers. Dixie was very involved with her church where she taught the nursery class and led the little kids singing every Sunday. Dixie was a light to all that knew her and her smile could light up a room. She became the honorary grandma to many of the children that attended the church as well as teaching many who sang next to her in the choir how to sing the alto part including her Ashlee Tomblin who was her special singing protege. Dixie loved God, her family and her church family and she loved spending time with them all whether on the riverbank fishing, at the beach with all the family, enjoying dinners in the annex or worshipping and celebrating the Lord, she was an inspiration.
Those left to cherish her memory include the love of her life Robert “Bob” Frazier whom she was married to for over 68 years. Her daughters and their husbands, JC and Debbie Holly of Man and George “Slick” and Pam Nelson of Amherstdale. Her grandchildren Bridgett Miller and her husband James of Man, Robbie and Stephanie Nelson of Scott Depot and Adam and Heather Nelson of Amherstdale. Dixie also leaves behind her great grandchildren that she cherished, Cameron, Corey, Ashley, Alex, Colton, Cruz and Callie Ann. Dixie also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and special friends.
