Of Man, WV
Dovie Elizabeth Chapman, 70, of Hensley Heights, Man, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 16, 2020, leaving from Logan Regional Medical Center at Logan, after an extended illness.
She was born on December 11, 1949, at Feds Creek, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Herman and Lakie Stiltner.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Chapman; one sister, Jeanette Sansom; and one brother, Carl Stiltner.
Dovie was a postal clerk with the U.S. Postal Service who worked at the Lorado Post Office. She was a devout Christian. Dovie was a dedicated home maker, a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother. She was well known as a good cook especially for her corn bread which she shared with her neighbors as well as her family. A giving and loving person, Dovie will be deeply missed by all who loved her.
Those left to cherish her memory are two children, Isaac (Thea Johnson) Chapman of Charleston and Rebecca (Jamie) Lester of Man; two grandchildren, Abbie Elizabeth Adkins (J.T. Lester) and Bobbie Ellen Adkins; two siblings, Maudie (Steve) Justice and Jack (Shirley) Stiltner, Grapevine, KY; a friend whom Dovie thought of as a son, Dana Wilson of Lorado; and many nieces and nephews along with a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, January 17, 2020, at the Krantz- McNeely Funeral Home at Man with Deacon Sheldon Wells officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens at Godby.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to services.
Pall bearers will be family and friends.
