Charles Edward Erwin

Of Taplin, WV

   Charles Edward Erwin, 80, of Taplin, went home to be with the Lord on October 22, 2019, from the Charleston Hubbard House, with his daughter by his side, after a long illness.

   He was born on October 1, 1939, in Fayette County, the son of the late Elijiah and Violet June Erwin.

   Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sue Ellen Miller Erwin; his son, Timothy Charles Erwin; his sister, Phyllis Erwin Adkins; and his in-laws, Brooks and Mildred Miller.

   Charles was a Vietnam veteran serving as a sniper with the Special Forces of the United States Army.  During his term of service, he attained the rank of Staff Sergeant.

   In the late 1960’s and 1970’s, he was the district manager for Mutual/United of Omaha Insurance Company.  He then changed careers and went on to be a mine foreman at a number of coal mines.

   He was a life long member of the Man Church of the Nazarene where he served as a board member and a substitute Sunday school teacher for many years.

   Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Pamela Sue Erwin of Man; and sister-in-law, Judy Kay Miller of Looneyville; along with many friends.

   Services will be held at 12 Noon on Saturday, October 26, 2019, at the Man Church of the Nazarene at Man with Rev. Ollie Parsons officiating.  Burial will follow at Epling Cemetery at Looneyville.

   Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church also.
