Obituary of Aaron Arnold Goodman

Aaron Goodman

of Accoville, WV

   Aaron Arnold Goodman, 73, of Accoville, joined his wife Patty in their Heavenly home on Thursday, June 13, 2019, at Pikeville Medical Center at Pikeville, KY, after an extended illness.

   He was born on December 4, 1945, at Accoville, the son of the late Willie William “Bill” and Hazel Marie McDonald Goodman.

   In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Patricia Main “Patty” Goodman on April 8, 2019; two sisters, Zelma Smith and Gloria Ball; one brother, Mickey Goodman; and a son-in-law, David Carpenter.

   Aaron was a graduate of Man High School and attended college for a year before starting his career as a coal miner.  His mining career spanned over 25 years starting in 1972 as a coal miner and retiring as a mine foreman in the late 90’s.  Aaron enjoyed fishing, hunting, riding in the mountains, and watching football.  Aaron was a Christian and loved going to church with his wife at Becco United Baptist Church.

   Those left to cherish his memory are three children, Heather (Mark) Drake of Accoville, Mark (Rachelle) Goodman of Buckhannon, and Kenna (Robert Swafford) Carpenter of Verner; one sister, Frances Adkins of Dearborn Heights, MI; one brother, Willie (Gigi) Goodman of Frankfort, Germany; one sister-in-law, Hazel Goodman of Davin; nine grandchildren, Kari Goodman of Accoville, Kathleen (Jon) Boggs and Candace Goodman, both of Lorain, OH, Tara Drake of Chapmanville, Emily (Miller Brown) Williams of Ben Creek, Cody (Hollie Vinson) Jarrell and Kayci  (Ben Ratliff) Jarrell, all of Accoville, and Morgan Goodman and Ashtyn Goodman, both of Buckhannon;  and great-grandchildren, Ethyn Aaron Clark, Jaxtyn Cole Goodman, Adalynn Faith Ratliff, all of Accoville, and Jackson Boggs and Kennedy Boggs, both of Loraine, OH; several nieces and nephews along with a host of other relatives, church family, and friends.

   Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, June 15, 2019 at the Becco United Baptist Church at Becco.

   Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday at the Becco United Baptist Church with Rev. P.J. Tomblin officiating.  Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens at Godby.

   Pall bearers will be Mark Drake, Cody Jarrell, Ben Ratliff, Jon Boggs, Robert Swafford, Ethyn Clark, and Miller Brown.
