Obituary of Ervin Vance
Please share a memory of Ervin to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Ervin Vance, 72, of Verdunville, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 9, 2016, leaving from the home of his first ex-wife, Alice Gullett at Madison Creek after an extended illness.
He was born on May 30, 1944, at Logan, a son of the late Charlie and Elizabeth Hager Vance.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Lommie and Dennis Vance; and one sister, Virginia Vance.
Ervin was the owner and operator of Vance's Ambulance Service which served the people of Logan County from 1971 until 1983. He had also worked in the coal mines, drove a school bus, and at James Funeral Home. A fixture of Logan, Ervin never met a stranger and was often seen meeting and greeting all around the Logan area. He enjoyed Logan County politics and standing around the court house talking to everyone he met.
Those left to cherish his memory are his caretaker and daughter, Teresa Burgess of Oak Grove, KY; four step-children; three grandchildren, Daniel, Michael, and Rebecca; six great-grandchildren; and one very special nephew, Jerry Vance of Dingess; along with a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held from 6-9 p.m. Tuesday at The Mt. Moriah Church at Dingess.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 12, 2016, at the Mt. Moriah Church located on the East Fork of Twelve Pole at Dingess with Rev. Kenneth Vance officiating. Burial will follow in the Hager-Vance Cemetery located on the East Fork of Twelve Pole at Dingess.
